Ohio State's Kyle Snyder Ends College Career With Third-Straight NCAA Championship

Kyle Snyder added a third national championship to his two world championships and an Olympic gold medal as the Ohio State heavyweight beat Michigan rival Adam Coon with a two-point takedown that came with just 30 seconds left in their national title match, cementing the wrestler’s place among the all-time greatest in NCAA history.

Competing in front of a heavily Buckeyes crowd in Cleveland, Snyder showed the same skill and strength against a much-heavier opponent that he has exhibited throughout his career; Coon defeated Snyder in a dual meet one month ago, handing the Olympian his first collegiate loss since falling to Kyven Gadson in the national title match three years ago. Coon outweighs Snyder by 55 pounds.

Snyder’s career moves on to international and further Olympic competition; unlike the unpaid basketball players currently on television’s March Madness, though, an NCAA loophole for wrestling has already allowed the grappler to pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars in earnings for his wrestling success.
