Oklahoma State softball bus involved in fatal accident
Oklahoma State celebrates with fans following the college softball game between the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls and the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Stillwater, Okla., Thursday Feb. 26, 2026. A bus ferrying the Oklahoma State softball team to Kansas struck and killed a 62-year-old pedestrian, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed.
The accident occurred near Perry, Okla., on Wednesday afternoon as the team was en route to Wichita, Kan., in advance of a night game against Wichita State. In a brief statement, the university said no one from the Oklahoma State traveling party was hurt.
The Cowgirls' game was postponed. They are scheduled to play a three-game weekend series against Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, beginning Friday.
The highway patrol said it had received a report of a woman darting in and out of traffic on Interstate 35. In less than a minute, a second call came from a different driver reporting that a woman had been hit.
The woman has yet to be identified.
