Packers star edge rusher Micah Parsons active for season opener
Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons speaks during an introductory press conference on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Packers made a trade with the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 28 to acquire Parsons in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first round picks.
Tork Mason/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin GREEN BAY, Wis. Packers star edge rusher Micah Parsons, who has been bothered by a back injury since being acquired recently in a blockbuster trade with Dallas, is active for today's season opener against the visiting Detroit Lions.
Parsons, a two-time All-Pro selection, was acquired from Dallas on Aug. 28 for two first-round draft picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.
Parsons, who had 52 1/2 sacks in his four seasons with the Cowboys, was traded following a contract stalemate with Dallas.
He practiced in pads last week in a limited capacity and was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report.
"He's looked limited, but he's done a nice job in that capacity," Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Friday.
LaFleur said that even in a limited capacity, Parsons exhibited some explosiveness.
"He's a freak," LaFleur said. "So that certainly stands out when he's out there."
