Penguins sign F Ville Koivunen to eight-year, $32M deal

Mandatory Credit: Philip G. Pavely-Imagn Images The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed restricted free agent forward Ville Koivunen to an eight-year, $32 million contract on Thursday.
The deal runs through the 2023-24 season and carries an average annual value of $4 million.
Koivunen, 23, recorded two goals and five assists in 39 games with the Penguins in 2025-26. He added 41 points (13 goals, 28 assists) in 34 games with AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The Finland native made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh in March 2025 and has contributed 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 47 NHL contests.
Carolina drafted Koivunen in the second round in 2021 and traded him to the Penguins on March 7, 2024 in a deal that sent forward Jake Gunetzel to the Hurricanes.
