Porno For Pyros In The Minors
Come out to the Savannah Sand Gnats game next Saturday. There'll be food giveaways, and live music, and, oh yeah, one lucky fan gets to light a man on fire.
You'll have to sit through an entire Single-A baseball game, but boy will it be worth it. After the final out, they'll pull a fan from the stands and put the torch to Ted Batchelor.
Batchelor, as if you didn't know, holds the world records for being on fire the longest, and for most people simultaneously on fire, at 17. (Though to be fair, he rightfully owns about 1/17th of that record.)
Once Batchelor's lit up, he'll circle the bases and slide into home.
This is a game-changer," said Sand Gnats President John Katz. "Instead of having our promotions crew do the Cha-Cha Slide between the game and the fireworks, we're going to light a match and make some memories. Some really, really cool memories."
And hopefully, inspire some kids to go home and try it themselves.
