Providence F Bryce Hopkins (knee) out for season again

Mandatory Credit: Eric Canha-Imagn Images Providence coach Kim English said Monday that Bryce Hopkins will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, the second straight season the star forward has had cut short.
Hopkins suffered an ACL tear in his left knee on Jan. 3, 2024, and missed not only the end of the 2023-24 season, but also the start of the current campaign.
He returned on Dec. 3 against BYU and scored 16, 16 and 19 points in three December games before suffering a bone bruise in the same knee.
On his local television show Monday, English revealed Hopkins' status.
"Bryce is not going to play for the rest of this season," English said. "And I get it. I get it with him losing his junior season last year after playing in 13 games."
"We didn't want it to be a thing where Bryce is managing his knee game to game playing half a season," he added. "He's going to get a (medical) redshirt and we're going to start our focus on getting him right for next season."
Hopkins transferred to Providence in 2022 after being lightly used in his freshman year at Kentucky. In 50 games (all starts) with the Friars, Hopkins has averaged 15.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
