Rafael Devers homers in 6th straight game, sets Red Sox record

Mandatory Credit: Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers made team history on Monday night, going deep for the sixth consecutive game.
Devers sent a ball over the left field wall in the top of the fourth inning in Boston's 5-0 victory over the host Tampa Bay Rays. Six previous Red Sox players had gone deep in five straight games, with Bobby Dalbec the most recent in 2020.
The power surge comes as part of a 10-game hitting streak for Devers, who is batting .293 (12-for-41) with the six home runs and 11 RBIs in that span.
If Devers clears the wall in each of his next two games, he will match Ken Griffey Jr. (1993 Seattle Mariners), Don Mattingly (1987 New York Yankees) and Dale Long (1956 Pittsburgh Pirates) for the longest home-run streak in major league history.
For the season, Devers is hitting .284 with 10 homers and 23 RBIs.
Devers and the Red Sox are set to face Tampa Bay again on Tuesday in St. Petersburg, Fla. Right-hander Zack Littell is scheduled to start for the Rays.
