Rangers Beat Penguins In A Shootout, Then Don't
The Rangers and Penguins quickly exited the ice last night after Dan Boyle seemingly earned the 3-2 New York win with his shootout goal, but both teams had to scramble back when officials reviewed the replay and took away Boyle's winner.
Video showed that Boyle had hit the puck twice on his attempt, which automatically disallowed the goal. Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had to get back out and stop Brandon Sutter's shot; Sutter easily put it through his five-hole.
On the other side, Marc-Andre Fleury had to stop Rick Nash after believing he had just lost. Somehow, he made the save and sealed the game, and the Penguins got to walk back to the locker room once more, this time as the shootout winners.
Rangers coach Alain Vigneault couldn't really argue the reversal:
