As a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled infielder Justin Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock.
Smith, 28, is hitting .217 with six RBIs in 31 games this season. He's played 29 games at second base and two as a designated hitter this season after splitting time across the infield and outfield in 2025. He's a career .235 hitter over 487 games across five seasons, with 31 homers and 134 RBIs.
Foscue, 27, has played in 19 major league games over the last two seasons after Texas drafted him 14th overall in the 2020 MLB Draft, posting a .059 batting average with three RBIs. He's hitting .287 with two homers and 14 RBIs in 30 games with Round Rock this season.
