The Boston Red Sox placed All-Star left-hander Ranger Suarez on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left groin strain.

The move is retroactive to Monday for Suarez, who left his start on Sunday with two outs in the third inning after leaping for Jo Adell's chopper over the mound in Boston's 7-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Signed to a five-year, $130 million contract, Suarez was named to the American League roster for next week's All-Star Game after posting a 4-3 record and a 3.15 ERA in 17 starts this season. The Venezuelan was named to the National League All-Star team in 2024 while competing with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Suarez, 30, is 57-40 with a 3.35 ERA in 204 career appearances (136 starts) with the Phillies (2018-25) and Red Sox.

Also on Thursday, the Red Sox recalled infielder Brett Harris from Triple-A Worcester.

Harris, 28, was acquired in a trade with the Athletics on July 1.

He batted .317 with six homers and 40 RBIs in 42 games split between Triple-A Las Vegas (37 games) and Worcester (five).
