Red Wings hang on to win Monday matinee over Predators

Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images Defenseman Albert Johansson broke a tie with a short-handed goal late in the second period and the Detroit Red Wings held on for a 4-2 win over the host Nashville Predators on Monday afternoon.
Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist apiece and Emmitt Finnie also scored for the Red Wings, who have won two of their last three. Marco Kasper had two assists.
John Gibson made 10 saves on 11 shots before leaving the game after the first period because of an upper-body injury. He was replaced by Cam Talbot, who stopped 18 of 19 shots, including a few outstanding saves in the third period as Detroit held onto a one-goal lead.
Filip Forsberg and Jonathan Marchessault got the goals for the Predators, who are 1-2-2 in their last five. Juuse Saros made 27 saves.
Johansson's short-handed goal gave the Red Wings a 3-2 lead with 3:24 left in the second. From the bottom of the right circle, he ripped in a cross-slot pass from Kasper on a 2-on-1 rush.
DeBrincat added an empty-net goal with less than 30 seconds left.
Raymond tied the game 2-2 9:48 into the middle period when he put in a shot from below the right circle after taking a cross-ice pass from DeBrincat off the rush. It was Raymond's 20th goal.
Marchessault gave Nashville a 2-1 lead 7:10 into the second period when he tapped in a cross-crease pass from Ryan O'Reilly after causing a turnover by Detroit defenseman Simon Edvinsson.
Finnie opened the scoring 4:51 into the game with his first goal in 23 games by putting in a rebound off the rush.
Forsberg's power-play goal tied it 1-1 with 2:58 left in the first period on a one-time slap shot from the top of the right circle.
Each team had a goal waved off because of goaltender interference in the first.
Predators defenseman Adam Wilsby is week-to-week with a lower-body injury. He was injured in the Predators' 3-2 overtime loss at the Dallas Stars on Saturday night and left that game early in the second period.
