Downing-Imagn Images Air Force is hiring Penn State assistant Joe Crispin to become the Falcons' new head coach, CBS Sports reported on Wednesday.
Crispin, 46, just completed his third season at his alma mater on Mike Rhoades' coaching staff, with the Nittany Lions finishing 12-20 (3-17 Big East).
Air Force just concluded the worst season in school history at 3-29, including 0-20 in the Mountain West, with a season-ending 25-game losing streak -- the longest active skid in Division I.
Former Falcons head coach Joe Scott was fired on Feb. 21 after being indefinitely suspended during an investigation into his treatment of cadet-athletes. Air Force finished 0-12 under interim coach Jon Jordan.
Air Force has not had a winning season since 2012-13 and has not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2005-06.
Crispin served as the head coach at Division III Rowan in New Jersey from 2016-23. A point guard at Penn State, he played professionally in the U.S. and overseas from 2001-12. That included brief stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns.
