Los Angeles had already been busy this offseason, signing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to a 10-year, $700 million contract before inking Japanese right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a 12-year deal worth $325 million.
The Dodgers also acquired right-hander Tyler Glasnow and outfielder Manuel Margot in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays last month.
Now Los Angeles is adding even more firepower to its lineup, as Hernandez comes off a 2023 season in which he hit .258 with 26 homers and 93 RBIs in 160 games with the Seattle Mariners.
Hernandez, 31, finished 11th in American League MVP voting in 2020 and was named an All-Star in 2021 when he was with the Toronto Blue Jays.
In 811 major league games with the Houston Astros (2016-17), Blue Jays (2017-22) and Mariners (2023), Hernandez has 159 home runs, 473 RBIs, 422 runs and 768 hits. He is a career .261 hitter with a .486 slugging percentage.
