Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports The Miami Dolphins are interviewing Chris Shula, grandson of franchise icon Don Shula, on Thursday for their defensive coordinator vacancy, NFL Network reported.
Chris Shula, 37, has been on Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay's defensive staff since 2017.
He was the Rams' pass-rush coordinator and linebackers coach in 2023 and their pass-game coordinator and defensive backs coach in 2022. Shula worked with the linebackers from 2017-21 after spending two seasons as a quality control coach with the then-San Diego Chargers from 2015-16.
Shula is the son of former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Dave Shula.
His grandfather, Don Shula, is the winningest coach in NFL history with 328 career regular season victories over 33 seasons with the Baltimore Colts (1963-69) and Dolphins (1970-95). He guided Miami to the NFL's only unbeaten season in 1972 and wins in Super Bowls VII and VIII. The four-time AP NFL Coach of the Year was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997 and passed away in 2020 at the age of 90.
