Report: John Fox To Undergo Heart Surgery, Miss At Least A Month
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox will have heart surgery on Tuesday and miss roughly four to six weeks to recovery, as first reported by Jay Glazer.
The coach had actually planned to have the procedure on his aortic valve during the offseason, but delayed it. After Fox went to the hospital Saturday due to feeling light-headed, the surgery became much more urgent.
From Glazer:
Fox was slated to have this procedure in the offseason but held off. Ironically, he flew to North Carolina during this weeks bye to meet w surgeon about a February procedure
Foxie said its something he knew he'd one day need but it deteriorated faster than they feared. Although he'll be away from team he'll still be involved
Fox told me,"it's something I've known I needed to take care of for a while. It's ironic this happened when I came to meet with the surgeon. I was hoping to wait but it's better to be smart about this."
An interim coach has not been named yet, but the most probable replacement would be defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio.
