The agreement gives Manaea an opt out after the 2024 season.
He becomes the third starting pitcher acquired this offseason by the Mets. They signed former New York Yankees right-hander Luis Severino to a one-year, $13 million free agent contract on Nov. 29, and a Dec. 20 trade with the Milwaukee Brewers sent right-hander Adrian Houser to the Mets.
The three pitchers will vie to join left-hander Jose Quintana and righty Kodai Senga in the rotation.
Manaea, who turns 32 next month, spent the 2023 season with the San Francisco Giants after stints with the Oakland Athletics (2016-21) and San Diego Padres (2021).
The Giants used him a spot starter instead of a rotation piece, and he finished 7-6 with a 4.44 ERA and a save in 37 games (10 starts).
In his career, Manaea is 65-56 with a 4.10 ERA in 196 games (166 starts). He has 925 strikeouts in 1,002 2/3 innings pitched.
