Mandatory Credit: Stephen Lew-Imagn Images The New Orleans Pelicans are set to sign guard-forward Bryce McGowens to a standard three-year contract, elevating him from his previous two-way deal, ESPN reported Friday.
No financial terms of the contract were reported.
McGowens, 23, has averaged 7.9 points with 1.9 rebounds in 32 games (11 starts) for the Pelicans this season while on two-way duty. He is shooting 48.0% from the floor and 45.3% from 3-point range.
"We've seen the work every day behind the scenes," New Orleans interim head coach James Borrego said last week, while anticipating McGowens' conversion to a standard deal. "He's ready for the moment. I think this is his moment, his time now. He's one of those guys who can play both sides of the ball."
A second-round draft pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2022, McGowens has averaged 5.4 points with 1.7 rebounds in 150 career games (32 starts) for the Charlotte Hornets (2022-24), Portland Trail Blazers (2024-25) and Pelicans.
