Downing-Imagn Images The Miami Marlins are acquiring right-hander Bradley Blalock from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for a minor league pitcher, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
Blalock was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for righty Michael Lorenzen, who agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with the Rockies last Tuesday.
The reported acquisition of Blalock gives Miami additional depth on its roster after the team traded right-hander Edward Cabrera to the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Ryan Weathers to the New York Yankees earlier this month.
Blalock, 25, posted a 2-6 record with a 9.36 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) last season.
He is 3-9 with an 8.16 ERA in 21 career appearances (18 starts) with the Milwaukee Brewers and Rockies.
