Reports: Mets reach minors deal with Christopher Morel

Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images The New York Mets agreed to a minor league deal with outfielder/third baseman Christopher Morel, multiple media outlets reported on Tuesday.
Morel, 27, was released by the Miami Marlins on Friday.
He signed a one-year, $2 million contract in the offseason but never got going with the Marlins. He hit just .162 without a homer in 22 games and struck out 28 times in 68 at-bats.
Morel is a career .220/.296/.407 hitter with 74 home runs and 211 RBIs in 499 games with the Chicago Cubs (2022-24), Tampa Bay Rays (2024-25) and Marlins (2026).
