Rockies acquire OF Jake McCarthy from Diamondbacks

Mandatory Credit: David Frerker-Imagn Images The Colorado Rockies acquired outfielder Jake McCarthy from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday in exchange for minor-league right-hander Josh Grosz.
McCarthy, 28, batted .204 with four homers and 20 RBIs in 67 games last season with Arizona. The speedy, defensive-minded outfielder is a career .260 hitter with 24 homers and 139 RBIs in 431 games over parts of five seasons with the Diamondbacks.
Grosz, 23, was acquired by Colorado from the New York Yankees as part of the Ryan McMahon deal on July 25, 2025.
The No. 20 overall Rockies prospect, as ranked by MLB.com, posted a 1-6 record with a 5.87 ERA in seven starts for High-A Spokane last season. Over 23 appearances (22 starts) in the Yankees' and Rockies' systems last season, he was a combined 5-14 with a 4.67 ERA and 135 strikeouts over 125 1/3 innings.
