Mandatory Credit: Dale Zanine-Imagn Images The Home Run Derby is returning to Truist Park in Atlanta as part of this season's All-Star festivities, and the hometown fans will have a lot to cheer about, as Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. has committed to participating at the July 14 event.
The 2023 NL MVP and four-time All-Star is batting .385 with nine home runs and 16 RBIs in just 29 games this season for Atlanta, the only team he has played for during an eight-year career.
A torn left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) limited the outfielder to just 49 games in 2024 and cost him the first part of the 2025 season, but the star signaled his return in style, launching a home run in his first game back against the San Diego Padres on May 23.
Acuna announced his intent to participate on ESPN Wednesday, making him the first confirmed participant for this year's Home Run Derby. It will be the 27-year-old's third appearance after taking part in the 2019 and 2022 competitions.
