Mandatory Credit: Maria Lysaker-Imagn Images Ruben Dominguez scored a career-high 30 points, all on 3-pointers, to lead a balanced offensive attack as Texas A&M built a huge lead by halftime and rolled past Manhattan 109-68 on Friday in College Station, Texas.
The Aggies (4-2) sprinted away from a one-point deficit eight minutes into the game to build a 30-point lead late in the first half.
Once A&M expanded its lead to 71-36 on a Jamie Vinson three-point play four minutes into the second half, it was just a matter of how large the final winning margin would be for the Aggies, how many players would reach double figures and how early they would empty their bench.
The 109 points marked the second time this year the Aggies have scored 100 or more points and were the most for Texas A&M since 2017.
Dominguez's 10 made 3-pointers (on 14 attempts) are the most by a player in Texas A&M history. Marcus Hill added 19 points for the Aggies, while Rylan Griffen had 17, Jacari Lane hit for 12 points and Rashaun Agee corralled a game-high 10 rebounds in the win.
Terrance Jones led Manhattan with 13 points. Marko Ljubicic added 11, and Anthony Isaac had 10 for the Jaspers (3-3).
The Aggies quickly went to the front, building an 11-5 lead on a Dominguez 3-pointer at the 15:52 mark of the first half. Manhattan swung back, using a 10-3 run capped by Vinson's alley-oop dunk to take a 15-14 lead with 12:16 to play in the half.
A&M answered with an 11-2 run of its own, leapfrogging back to the front by eight points after Griffen canned a free throw with 8:42 left before halftime. The Aggies expanded the margin to 14 points when Rashaun Agee grabbed a rebound and went the length of the floor for a layup, and then to 40-21 after Jamie Vinson nailed a jumper in the lane with 4:01 remaining.
A&M stoked its lead to 30 points before settling for a 55-27 advantage at the break.
Dominguez led A&M with 12 points before halftime, while Hill added 11 and Griffen hit for 10. The Aggies outshot Manhattan 60% to 32.3% in the first half while hitting 10 of their 19 3-point attempts and outscoring the visitors 22-10 in the paint.
Jaden Winston's seven points paced the Jaspers in the first half.
