Syracuse QB Eric Dungey Leaves Game After CMU Linebacker's Nasty Hit
Syracuse beat Central Michigan 30-27 in overtime Saturday, but the Orange lost starting freshman quarterback Eric Dungey after he was injured by a hit from Chippewas linebacker Mitch Stanitzek. Dungey didn’t return to the game, and Stanitzek was ejected for targeting.
Nate Mink of Syracuse.com asked four of Dungey’s teammates for their thoughts on the hit. The offensive lineman—right tackle Omari Palmer—thought it was dirty, while the three defensive players chalked it up as something that just happens in football. Whatever the verdict, the 3-0 Orange have to figure out whether Dungey, who hasn’t been officially diagnosed with a concussion, is even part of the plans for Saturday’s game against LSU.
