Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz lifted his first trophy since June 2025 when he swept Spanish up-and-comer Rafael Jodar 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the final of the Mubadala DC Open on Monday afternoon in Washington.
The final was rescheduled to Monday due to inclement weather in the region on Sunday. Both players will now have a quick turnaround to travel to Montreal for the ATP Masters 1000 event that began there on Sunday.
Fritz had lost his past four tour-level finals since collecting a pair of titles in June of last year at Stuttgart, Germany, and Eastbourne, England. Fritz won the match on his fifth championship point of the final game, saving one break point along the way.
Fritz won 39 of his 48 first-service points (81.3%) and had a 6-5 edge in aces over Jodar, the 19-year-old rookie who was seeking his second title of the season.
