Team Falcons runs table in lower bracket to win FISSURE Playground 2

Jordan Woodruff Team Falcons completed a run through the lower bracket and took down BetBoom Team 3-1 in the grand final of the FISSURE Playground 2 event Sunday in Belgrade, Serbia.
Team Falcons secured a $300,000 first prize along with an additional $50,000 club reward for winning the $1 million Dota 2 event. BetBoom settled for $150,000 plus a $30,000 club reward in second.
Team Falcons finished atop the standings of the group stage at the start of this week, but they lost its opening match of the playoffs 2-0 to MOUZ, knocking them into the do-or-die lower bracket.
Three wins later, Team Falcons reached the lower-bracket final against Team Yandex, and they won that showdown 2-0 earlier Sunday to set up a meeting with BetBoom in the grand final.
BetBoom opened with a 49-minute win on green, before Team Falcons took over with wins in 27, 39 and 57 minutes, all while playing on red.
Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf of Jordan led Team Falcons by averaging 7.5 kills, three deaths and 8.3 assists per map. BetBoom leaned on Ilya "Kiritych" Ulyanov of Russia, who averaged a K-D-A of 5.5-1.5-5.0.
Before that, Falcons blanked Team Yandex in 51 minutes on green and 31 minutes on red, pushing Yandex to third place.
The $1 million Dota 2 event began with 16 teams competing in a Swiss system group stage from Oct. 23-27. The top eight teams from that stage advanced to the double-elimination playoffs. All playoff matches were best-of-three except for the grand final.
