Texas lands 5-star RB Landen Williams-Callis

Texas added one of the top running backs in the 2027 recruiting class Saturday when five-star Landen Williams-Callis announced his commitment to the Longhorns.

Williams-Callis, a 5-foot-7.5-inch, 185-pound prospect from Richmond, Texas, is ranked as the nation's No. 3 running back and No. 29 overall recruit, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He selected Texas over fellow finalists Texas A&M, Missouri, Houston and SMU, giving coach Steve Sarkisian 22 commitments in the class.

Five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, the No. 5 overall prospect on the 247Sports composite, and five-star offensive tackle Ismael Camara (No. 21) are the only Texas commits ranked higher in the class.

Williams-Callis has racked up 7,551 rushing yards and 125 touchdowns through three seasons at Thomas E. Randle High School in Texas. He produced 3,502 yards and 59 scores as a junior, helping Randle reach the state championship game while earning Gatorade Texas Football Player of the Year honors. He enters his senior season 3,828 yards shy of the state's career rushing record.

Williams-Callis is a cousin of former Oregon State standouts Jacquizz and James Rodgers, both 2009 All-Americans. His uncle, Michael Lewis, was an All-American at Colorado before playing nine seasons in the NFL and earning first-team All-Pro recognition in 2004.

Williams-Callis joins four-star Noah Roberts, the 17th-ranked running back in the class, in Texas' 2027 backfield class.

The future additions come as Texas reshapes its current backfield. The Longhorns lost four of their five leading rushers from last season but added transfers Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers, along with four-star freshman Derrek Cooper.
