The Lakers Set Their Pregame Jerry Buss Tribute To The Song "Good Riddance"
The Lakers crushed Boston last night 113-99 in a game preceded by a memorial tribute to late owner Jerry Buss—complete with moment of silence, speech from Kobe Bryant, and slideshow set to moving music.
What music was that, anyway? ESPN says it was a song titled "Time Of Your Life." I'm no Green Day fan (I haven't bought one of their records since Kerplunk! in junior high) but I at least know that "Time Of Your Life" isn't the title of that song. You don't need esoteric knowledge of Green Day's hit songs to know it's a stupid song to use for a memorial; all you need are functioning ears and basic knowledge of the English language.
Of course, assuming people can actually listen and think is maybe too much. After all, idiots still sing Bruce Springsteen's "Born In The U.S.A." as a patriotic anthem and dance to "Every Breath You Take" by the Police at their weddings. But those songs at least have titles that are not "Good Riddance."
