This Korean Figure Skater Is Extremely Online
Photo: Bernat Armangue/ [object Object] South Korean figure skater Alex Kang-chan Kam is competing at the 2018 Olympics in the pair skating event. He’s also on a quest to become a meme.
Kam caught people’s attention during last night’s broadcast of the figure skating team event, when cameras captured him removing a pair of Olympic novelty sunglasses only to reveal a second pair of sunglasses:
Now, something like this doesn’t just happen spontaneously or by accident. It takes the dedication and understanding of someone who is truly Logged On to create a viral moment like this, and the 22-year-old seems to be as online as anyone his age can be. For example, the bio section of his Instagram account reads, “Korean Figure Skater 감강찬 (◕‿◕✿) 🇰🇷 • Time Magazine’s Person of the Year 2006 • 5% pleasure, 50% pain, and 100% reason to remember my name jeff.”
He’s also the guy who engaged in some “ironic dabbing” during the opening ceremony:
He also threw up the “Vape Naysh” sign during last night’s event, which is a reference to a series of extremely popular and extremely dumb YouTube videos:

THAT WAS ME DABBING TOO AHAHAHHA!!! I wanna make this olympics a very MEMEorable one!!!!
And gracious:
Papa bless!
Edit: Thank you to every single comment for the kind words and thank you also for the golds! They mean more to me than olympic gold medals on this blessed day. This is unreal! Absolutely nutty! I love every single one of you. Here’s to more goofs and gafs and zoops and zaps!
Please let Mike Tirico interview this man on camera, so that we all can enjoy what will be the most inscrutably awkward interaction in Olympic history.
