Tigers CF Parker Meadows (shoulder) out at least 4 more weeks
Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows catches a fly ball against the Philadelphia Phillies during the second inning of a Grapefruit League game at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Fla. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025. Detroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows remains out due to a nerve issue in his throwing shoulder and can't throw a ball for four more weeks.
Manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Saturday morning that Meadows can take part in non-throwing drills, including running, light batting and fielding.
"If we can utilize that time for all other parts of his body, we're hoping that's an advantage," Hinch said, per the Detroit Free Press. "Because he's not shut down from anything else. It's strictly about the throwing."
Meadows sustained the injury in the first game of spring training on Feb. 22 and has been sidelined since.
The latest update from Hinch came after Meadows had additional medical testing.
"There's no damage to the nerve, which is encouraging," Hinch said. "But not all appointments come with great news. It's also not firing at the level that we need to advance."
Per the Free Press, Meadows will not require surgery.
The 25-year-old Meadows batted .244 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs across 82 games for the Tigers last season.
