Tigers send C Carson Kelly to Rangers

Mandatory Credit: David Richard-USA TODAY Sports The Texas Rangers acquired Carson Kelly from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for fellow catcher Liam Hicks and right-hander Tyler Owens on Sunday.
Kelly was active for Detroit on Sunday, entering a 5-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins in the eighth inning as a pinch hitter. He struck out in his lone at-bat.
In 60 games with the Tigers this season, the 30-year-old Kelly hit .240 with seven home runs and 29 RBIs.
Now in his ninth major league season, Kelly has appeared in 527 games with the St. Louis Cardinals (2016-18), Arizona Diamondbacks (2019-23) and Tigers (2023-24). He is a career .224 hitter and has smacked 52 homers to go along with 199 RBIs.
Hicks, 25, played 80 games for Double-A Frisco this year, batting .260 with four home runs and 33 RBIs.
Owens, 23, was also with Frisco, going 2-0 with a 2.80 ERA across 26 relief appearances this season.
Both Hicks and Owens have yet to appear in a big-league game.
