Today's Horrific Rugby Injury: Exploded Patella

Hamed, a rugby player, collided knees with an opponent and suffered a terrible injury. He gave permission to post the photos, which were sent along by his friend Gordon. Do not keep going if you do not want to see his injured knee.

OK, that was just the X-ray. Now, two photos of the actual knee.

Yeah, that knee's definitely not how it should be. According to Gordon, Hamed broke his patella in two. Here's a diagram of a normal knee so you can figure out what's wrong. (Commenters with medical backgrounds, what would you call that?)
