UCF sinks a school-record 19 3-pointers in win over FGCU

Mandatory Credit: Russell Lansford-Imagn Images Jordan Burks scored a career high 23 points and Jamichael Stillwell added his fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead UCF to a 102-80 home win over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday in Orlando, Fla.
Themus Fulks added a season-high 21 points for UCF (10-1), while Devan Cambridge hit four three-pointers en route to a season-high 16 points on 6-for-7 shooting.
UCF, who has now won nine consecutive games, set a new school record with 19 3-pointers, including six from Burks.
Jordan Ellerbee led FGCU (5-7) with 21 points. J.R. Konieczny and Roby Stewart each finished with 17 points. FGCU made a season high 15 3-pointers in the loss.
UCF pulled away in the second half, outscoring FGCU 53-31 in the final 20 minutes. A Cambridge 3-pointer put the finishing touches on a 7-0 run that gave the Knights a 68-59 lead with 12:24 left in the game. During that run, FGCU had a scoring drought of over three minutes.
Later in the half, Cambridge's fourth 3-pointer gave the Knights a 78-64 lead with 9:35 remaining.
Burks' sixth 3-pointer gave the Knights a 91-72 lead at the 4:21 minute mark. George Beale Jr. hit a 3-pointer with 43 seconds left to set a new program record with 18 threes. Beale added the team's 19th triple 18 seconds later.
Both teams took turns to show off their offensive prowess in the first half. FGCU connected on six consecutive attempts at one point, including a D. Williams 3-pointer to take a 25-18 lead with 10:02 left in the first half.
A couple minutes later it was UCF's turn to make six consecutive shots, capped off by a Cambridge layup to take a 32-31 advantage.
Later, with the Knights leading 39-36, the Eagles used a 13-2 run to jump out to a 49-41 lead with 1:52 remaining in the half. UCF then answered back with an 8-0 run of their own to tie the game at 49 at the half.
FGCU shot 61.3 percent from the floor in the first half and made nine of their 11 attempts from long distance. Behind 18 first half points from Burks, the Knights shot 51.5 percent from the floor and made 10 3-pointers on 17 attempts.
FGCU has dropped five consecutive games.
