UCLA To Meet The Tapeworms
This image was lost some time after publication. This one was the college basketball equivalent of a 6-3 Browns/Bengals game in a freezing rain. For a while there, it didn't look like either team would get to 50 points. Much like Ben Howland, this game was not pretty.
I'm sure UCLA fans don't mind the 50-45 win, though, and congratulations to them on their entry into the Final Four. I was feeling pretty good for them until CBS showed a towering, grinning, Bill Walton, and then I really didn't like them anymore.
As for Memphis... Good Lord, boys, what was that? 0-for-14 from behind the line until there were about 15 seconds left? 29% from the floor? Ugh. That's just nasty. I hate to say it, but on the big stage, they kinda, sorta... well, they gagged a little bit. They just weren't in the groove at all. Maybe next year they should try some Marvin Gaye instead of "Whoop That Trick."
But one half of the Final Four is set, and UCLA and LSU will get it on next Saturday.
