UFC Fighter Has A Message For President Obama About College Wrestling
Clay Guida won his featherweight bout at UFC Fight Night today by unanimous decision over Robbie Peralta, but it was his enthusiastic pro wrestling-style promo he cut afterward that draws our attention today as Guida shouted out to President Obama to “don’t forget wrestling.”
Guida’s implication that Obama be held responsible for the slow demise of college wrestling—a feeder sport for many MMA fighters—is a bit off. (Blame spiraling men’s football or basketball costs, the rising popularity of lacrosse, or the Civil Rights Act if you must.)
The rest of Guida’s promo was frenzied and pretty accurate; for background on his career and style, read this.
