Watch Wisconsin's Ben Brust Hit A Half-Court Buzzer Beater To Get The Badgers Into Overtime In Their Win Over Michigan
Wheeee! (Is it just us, or does the P.A announcer literally say "Wheeeee" after the shot?) That's Ben Brust of Wisconsin hitting one of his four threes on the day, and getting Wisconsin into an overtime against #3-ranked Michigan. Well, formerly #3-ranked Michigan. The Badgers outscored the Wolverines 5-2 in the overtime, and that was that, another college basketball upset in the college basketball upset books, which are getting pretty full.
We've debated the point in this space before, and of course we understand the whole thing about how difficult it can be to time the contact, but: You have to foul Brust if you're Michigan, right? John Beilein may reconsider his philosophy on that one after today.
Meanwhile, this almost turned into a epic refereeing disaster. Tim Hardaway Jr. fouled out with 13 seconds remaining, but stayed in on the final possession. Trey Burke's jumper with five seconds left in OT rimmed out, which, all things considered, is probably for the best.
Update: Turns out the last bit wasn't accurate. Big 10 referees live to see another day.
