Mandatory Credit: James Guillory-Imagn Images The Minnesota Wild acquired veteran defenseman Jeff Petry from the Florida Panthers on Thursday in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round draft pick.
The pick converts to a fifth-round selection should Minnesota win two playoff rounds with Petry playing in 50% or more of the Wild's postseason contests during those rounds.
Petry, 38, has recorded eight assists in 58 games this season, his first with Florida and his 16th in the league. He skated in his 1,000th career game on Nov. 17 against the Vancouver Canucks.
A Michigan native and 2006 second-round pick by Edmonton, Petry has 393 points (96 goals, 297 assists) in 1,039 games with the Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and Panthers.
