Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images The Dallas Wings are in the market for a new head coach after parting with Chris Koclanes on Tuesday.
Koclanes, 35, was hired ahead of the 2025 season after spending one and a half years as an assistant coach at Southern California. He secured that job after serving as a defensive coordinator for the Connecticut Sun and Los Angeles Sparks.
His first head coaching role produced poor results. The Wings finished 10-34, tied with the Chicago Sky at the bottom of the league, despite adding No. 1 overall draft pick Paige Bueckers.
"With new team facilities being built, a youthful roster under contract and the rights to three first-round draft selections over the next two seasons, including a lottery pick in 2026, the Wings are well-positioned for future success," Wings executive VP and general manager Curt Miller said in a statement. "As we enter a pivotal point in our team's future, we felt a change in leadership at this time was best for our organization."
Koclanes replaced Latricia Trammell, who was let go in 2024 at the end of her second season on the job.
The Wings are among five teams searching for a head coach. The New York Liberty (Sandy Brondello) and Seattle Storm (Noelle Quinn) fired their head coaches in recent weeks, and the expansion Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo still need to hire their first head coaches.
