With 'scary' concussion in past, Giants' Malik Nabers to face Eagles

New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers admitted Friday that he didn't remember the end of the play in which he sustained a concussion.

"I mean, it was scary when I couldn't remember what happened," Nabers said of the play late in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 26. "I can't remember the last play I was in, so yeah, it was kind of scary.

"Last thing I remember was (quarterback Daniel Jones) throwing me the ball. That was it."

The play continued with Nabers hitting his head on the turf as he attempted to reel in a pass from Jones.

Nabers, who missed the Giants' past two games, cleared concussion protocol on Thursday but experienced groin tightness.

New York head coach Brian Daboll expects Nabers and running back Devin Singletary to play in Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles despite being listed as limited participants in Friday's practice.

Singletary has also missed two games with a groin injury, but Daboll said "he is good to go." Singletary began the season as the Giants' lead back, rushing for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 56 carries.

Rookie Tyrone Tracy is expected to maintain a regular presence in the backfield after rushing for 179 yards and a touchdown while adding seven catches for 58 yards in Singletary's absence.

"Yeah, he's earned it. He's done a good job, so he'll get plenty of playing time," Daboll said. "Motor (Singletary), we'll see how the game's going and how it transpires. But Motor will play, Tracy will play, (Eric) Gray will play. We'll use all three of those guys."

The Giants ruled out punter Jamie Gillan (hamstring) and defensive back Adoree' Jackson (neck). Defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence (hip), linebacker Brian Burns (groin) and defensive back Dane Belton (illness) are listed as questionable.

Belton did not practice Friday, while the other two were limited participants.

Daboll was not ready to tip his hand with who will replace injured left tackle Andrew Thomas in the lineup.

Josh Ezeudu is expected to step in to protect quarterback Daniel Jones' blind side, with Jermaine Eluemunor playing right tackle. But Daboll said a number of options are being considered as the front five changes after more than 400 snaps for the starting unit this season.

"Ezeudu has taken a considerable amount of reps on the left side. Jermaine's on his right side, but you have to balance it too," Daboll said Friday. "We'll play him on the left at times, and (tackle) Evan (Neal) has played on the right side."
