Detroit Tigers Land David Price In Three-Team Trade
Ken Rosenthal was first to report that the Tigers have acquired starter David Price from the Rays. The Detroit-Oakland arms race is real and spectacular.
It's a three-team deal, with the Tigers sending Drew Smyly to Tampa, Austin Jackson to Seattle, and the Mariners sending Nick Franklin to the Rays. (Update: Tampa is also getting Willy Adames, a highly regarded 18-year-old shortstop from the Tigers.)
Lot to break down here, but the Tigers now have the last three AL Cy Young winners in their rotation, with Justin Verlander—if the postseason started tomorrow—probably not being in the playoff rotation. Today's pretty great.
