Boxing Champion Bud Crawford Arrested For Allegedly Damaging Auto Body Shop

WBO junior welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford turned himself in to authorities today, reports Omaha, Nebraska’s NBC affiliate, after being charged with four misdemeanors: destruction of property, theft of service, misdemeanor assault, and trespass.

Crawford’s arrest stems from a dispute with an Omaha auto body shop. According to the owner of Extreme Custom Fleet and Auto Spa, Crawford refused to pay for a paint job the shop had performed. He then allegedly commandeered the hydraulic lift with three friends to get his car back, causing $5,000 in damages to the shop:

According to [Extreme Custom Fleet owner] Nelson, Crawford and his friends then took the car off a hydraulic lift themselves which damaged the lift in the process. Nelson told responding officers he was with another customer when he heard noises from inside his shop. The shop owner alleges that he saw Crawford “hitting buttons and pulling levers on the hydraulic lift” until the car was lowered.

The 28-0 Crawford’s next fight is scheduled for July 23, against Viktor Postol, to unify the junior welterweight division.
