Wherefore Art Thou, Barry?
This image was lost some time after publication. As usual, Barry Bonds is keeping us confused, forlorn, lost. He told us we could get all the info we needed — and the only info we could trust — at BarryBonds.com. But we're now approaching the halfway point of the season, and it has been almost two weeks since we heard from Barry. Is he coming back this year? With the Giants this bad, does it even matter? Hey, uh, dude, you do steroids or not? Help! Barry, you hath forsaken us!
In the gaping void, others have been forced to fill in with some information. Giants manager Felipe Alou says he thinks Bonds will play this season, but he kind of sounds like the only one. Bonds still hasn't resumed "baseball-related activity" — we've been watching the Dodgers lately, and we haven't seen much "baseball-related activity" out of them either — and there aren't that many shopping days until Christmas. We're starting to think maybe Barry's not coming back at all. Which makes us very sad. Barry, absolve our fears! Talk to us!
