Ex-NFLer Who Quit Over Health Concerns Arrested On Drug Charges
Former Seahawks and Broncos O-lineman John Moffitt, who retired from the NFL last season claiming the money wasn't worth the health risks, was arrested early Sunday morning on drug charges after a fight at a Chicago club.
According to police, Moffitt was at The Underground in River North when he was approached by a 40-year-old man who asked him if he was selling drugs, at which point Moffitt allegedly hit the man in the head. Police responded, and Moffitt was found with one gram of cocaine, four ecstasy pills and 10 grams of marijuana.
Moffitt was arrested around 4 a.m., and has been charged with two counts of felony drug possession, misdemeanor battery, and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Moffitt, a third-round pick out of Wisconsin in 2011, started a total of 15 games between Seattle and Denver before announcing his retirement in November.
