Florida State tops No. 18 Colorado in OT to win Sunshine Slam

O'Connell Center. credits: Matt Pendleton-USA TODAY Sports Jalen Warley recorded 19 points and three steals and Jamir Watkins had 18 points, 11 rebounds and four thefts as Florida State produced a 77-71 overtime victory over No. 18 Colorado on Tuesday to win the Beach Bracket of the Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Darin Green Jr. registered 12 points and four steals and De'Ante Green had 10 points as Florida State (4-1) won its 14th consecutive overtime game, extending an NCAA record.
Cody Williams scored 17 points and KJ Simpson added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Buffaloes (4-1). Eddie Lampkin collected 11 boards to go with eight points for Colorado.
Warley made a basket 50 seconds into overtime as the Seminoles scored the first nine points of the extra session. Baba Miller slammed home a dunk and Chandler Jackson made two free throws with 2:57 remaining.
Green then knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Seminoles a 69-60 lead with 1:29 to play.
Colorado recovered to trail 72-67 on a 3-pointer by Williams with 37 seconds remaining, but Warley broke downcourt to catch a long inbounds pass for an easy dunk with 32 seconds left as the Seminoles closed it out.
Florida State shot 47.4 percent from the field, including 8-of-24 from 3-point range. The Seminoles racked up 17 steals.
The Buffaloes made just 34.7 percent of their attempts and made 5 of 20 shots from behind the arc.
Warley scored two baskets in a span of eight seconds during a 6-0 run that gave Florida State a 55-49 advantage with 6:39 remaining in regulation.
The Buffaloes responded with an 11-2 run and took a 60-57 lead on a 3-pointer by Julian Hammond III with 2:51 left.
Watkins hit a jumper to bring the Seminoles within one before Warley split two free throws to tie it at 60 with 1:11 remaining. Neither team could score for the rest of regulation.
The Seminoles opened the second half with a 20-7 run to open up a 47-37 lead. Green capped the burst with a 3-pointer with 13:44 left in regulation.
Colorado answered with 10 straight points to tie the score. Simpson's 3-pointer finished the burst with 9:44 to play.
A 3-pointer by Hammond with just under three seconds left in the first half gave Colorado a 30-27 lead at the break.
