The right-hander, 30, spent parts of four seasons in the big leagues before pitching in 2023 for Japan's Yomiuri Giants, posting a 3.99 ERA in 30 appearances.
Beede was selected 21st overall by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2011 draft out of high school but did not sign, then again in 2014, when the San Francisco Giants made him the 14th overall pick out of Vanderbilt.
He pitched for the Giants (2018-19, 2021-22) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2022), compiling a mark of 7-16 with a 5.34 ERA, 163 strikeouts and 83 walks in 187 innings over 58 games (29 starts).
