Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Jose Ramirez doubled three times and drove in five runs, capped by a go-ahead two-run double in the 10th inning, as the Cleveland Guardians rallied from an early five-run deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 8-6 on Tuesday in Anaheim, Calif.
Ramirez lined a one-out double off Los Angeles reliever Blake Weiman (0-1) into the gap in left-center to drive in automatic runner Brayan Rocchio and Steven Kwan, who had singled, leading Cleveland to its sixth straight win.
Kwan went 5-for-5 with a walk, an RBI and three runs. He matched his career-high hit total, which he previously recorded on April 10, 2022, against the Kansas City Royals.
Patrick Bailey walked four times and scored a run for the Guardians. Erik Sabrowski (5-2) struck out the side in the ninth, and Cade Smith fanned during a scoreless 10th to pick up his 35th save.
Vaughn Grissom hit two homers and drove in three runs, Mike Trout went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run and Christian Moore also homered for the Angels, who lost their third straight game.
Los Angeles took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Trout singled with one out and scored on Grissom's two-out, 389-foot homer just inside the left field foul pole.
The Angels chased Guardians starter Gavin Williams with three more runs in the second to increase the lead to 5-0.
Moore led off with his first home run, a 389-foot drive to left, to make it 3-0. Gustavo Campero followed with a single, but exited due to an apparent injury while advancing to second on a wild pitch. Pinch runner Jose Siri scored on a double by Denzer Guzman, who was then sacrificed to third by Adam Frazier and scored on a single by Zach Neto.
Cleveland cut the deficit to 5-3 in the fourth on an RBI double by Travis Bazzana into the gap in right-center followed by a two-run double by Ramirez. The Guardians tied it an inning later on back-to-back RBI singles by Rocchio and Kwan.
The Angels regained the lead, 6-5, in the fifth when Grissom led off with his second homer of the game and ninth of the season. Cleveland bounced back to tie it in the eighth when Kwan led off with a single and scored on a one-out double by Ramirez.
