Luol Deng Lost 15 Pounds While He Was In The Hospital
Yesterday, Luol Deng returned to the Chicago Bulls' practice facility for the first time since being laid up in the hospital due to complications from a spinal tap procedure. It sounds like he had a pretty awful time while he was there.
Deng told CSN Chicago that he dropped 15 pounds during his stay in the hospital, a stint which included plenty of throwing up and diarrhea:
“It all started with I wasn’t feeling well. I guess I had the flu. But my symptoms were really bad when I went to the hospital. They wanted to make sure I didn’t have meningitis, which I’m thankful for. They wanted to make sure. I did the spinal tap and after that, I just didn’t respond well. I started having severe headaches, was struggling to walk. I started feeling really weak. I started throwing up, constant diarrhea. I couldn’t control my body really. Because of that, I lost a lot of weight. And still just trying to get back, just trying to get right. I still don’t feel right,” he explained.
Deng, who says that he still feels weak and is experiencing headaches when he moves around too much, is listed as day-to-day on the Bulls' injury report. So expect to see Tom Thibodeau take it easy on Deng and limit him to just 44 minutes of run in tonight's game against the Heat.
