Marshawn Lynch Stays Hidden For The National Anthem
Photo: Marcio Jose Sanchez/ [object Object] Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch, who habitually sits during the national anthem, was obscured by Raiders personnel during the anthem today before the game between Oakland and the Denver Broncos. With the way staff formed around Lynch, it would have been nearly impossible to notice him sitting, except for the aerial view seen below.
As Trask notes, it’s unclear why exactly this happened, and whether the decision was the Raiders’ or Lynch’s. But it comes at a time when NFL teams are watering down protests to try not to offend anyone and fans are instinctively booing anything that deviates from the traditional pseudo-patriotic pregame ceremonies.
Lynch was photographed earlier before the game wearing a “Everybody vs. Trump” t-shirt. He was the only Oakland Raider who didn’t stand for the national anthem today.
