Patriots Martellus Bennett And Devin McCourty Raise Fists After National Anthem
No player knelt during the national anthem before tonight’s Patriots-Cardinals game, but New England tight end Martellus Bennett and defensive back Devin McCourty raised their fists afterward.
Robert Klemko of The MMQB reported earlier today that Bennett had been on a group text with over 70 NFL players, including his brother Michael, who plays for the Seahawks, Richard Sherman, Arian Foster, and Colin Kaepernick. As a team, the Seahawks stood and linked arms before their game; Foster had knelt with a few of his Miami Dolphins teammates.
Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters also held his fist in the air during the national anthem before the team’s game today.
