Randy Orton Would Like You To Know He Did Not Spit On That Handicapped Child
Earlier in the month, the WWE star had a confrontation with a teenager in a restaurant parking lot. The kid filed an assault complaint, claiming Orton cussed him out and spat gum at him. Now Orton shares his side.
It's been quite a few years since I watched pro wrestling, so for all I know, this could just be a really intense angle.
The teenager told police he took a photograph of Orton in the parking lot and then asked to pose with him for another shot. But according to the victim, Orton, a 6-foot 4-inch, 245-pound wrestler famous for his RKO finishing move, spit his gum at him and called him a derogatory name. Campanello said the teen's mother confronted Orton, who allegedly responded "so sue me" when she voiced her protest.
Orton's been quiet, awaiting an official inquest, but today put out a statement:
Here's what happened: I walked out of Kowloon's Friday night around 12:30 to 1 a.m. with Santino and a police officer escort. As I was being rudely hounded for pictures and autos...I was confronted by an older women who said: ‘Hey Randy, you spit on my handicapped son a few years ago at a show, what do you have to say about that?'
My reply . . . `So Sue me.' Then I proceeded to my car, with Santino and the cop and drove back to our hotel by the Boston airport.
I know I have been a bit of a hothead in the past, but I DID NOT spit gum and call names to any child. The woman is claiming I called her son a [derogatory term] three times, and spit gum in his face. Come on people, even at my worst temperament, I would never call a handicapped child something awful like that. I'll actually sign anything for any child with any disability.
Sounds like this Santino fellow saw everything. He could be a good character witness, let's look him up. Hmm...fastest Royal Rumble elimination ever...got into a fight with Snoop Dogg...dressed in drag to win the Miss Wrestlemania battle royale...Okay, maybe he's not the best man to take the stand.
Look, even if he did spit gum at a kid, that's not so bad. This is pro wrestling. It's not a real assault unless you use a steel chair, a coconut, or the coffin of your enemy's dead mother.
