India, 29, was batting .167 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 17 games this season.
In six major league seasons, the 2021 National League Rookie of the Year, is a career .247 hitter with 74 home runs and 282 RBIs in 676 games for the Cincinnati Reds (2021-24) and Royals.
Loftin, 27, played in four games with the Royals earlier this season and was 2-for-9 with a double. In parts of the last four seasons with Kansas City, the former first-round draft pick (2020) is a career .220 hitter with five home runs and 44 RBIs in 146 games for Kansas City.
